回復 120# piggyman

Fantastic if you have a hybrid vehicle like a Prius, Honda insight etc , where the thin and slippery-ness of this oil, along with low drag body, low drag wheels, skinny and energy conserving tyres all add up in creating as little drag as possible from the air, engine internals and the road.

Even many Euro brands now offer oil typically in 0w20, some 5w20 to comply with the API-SN-RC ( resource conserving ) standard; as the demand for oil drag oils goes up everyday around the world.

The oil priorities are low drag, engergy conserving and high load, temps are much lower priorities so if you hammer your high performance cars regularly this won't give you the max protection you are seeking, though throttle response will be very crisp indeed.

Honda Australia brought in ( and still do ) metal cans of Honda oil from Japan ( rest of Honda oils in Aust are made oe by Caltex Aust ) especially for the 1st gen Honda Insight Hybrid cars as 0w20 was not avail in Aust and still no mainstream oil companies offer them off the shelves.  S2000 owners found out the hard ways that this oil isn't so well suited for revving engine to 9Krpm at the tracks and many engines were ruined due to misunderstandings in the early to mid 2000s.

There are performance orientated 0w20 however from Amsoil under their signature range.

Hi EG30,
Now my vehicle run 1000KM after oil changed, my opinion is the "Morris 5W40" i ...

    Thanks for your feedback hin_1213.

Often one brand of oil of same viscosity rating and composition can feel more responsive than the other for the simple reason one is thinner than the other.  The SAE rating of 5w-40 in this case has a range of cst value an oil can fall under for it to be deemed as a 5w-40 oil.  Need to compare the cst value at 100c to see if the Morris is thinner than the Ravenol or very similar.  Or the oil could be more suited to your engine for some reason, simply better quality oil or all of the mentioned.

Do keep us updated how you find the oil during the service interval and how its degradation over time.  You know your own car very well and would pick up any small differences where others can't.

In Aust I buy for 5w40 oil either from Shell of Castrol depending which one is on sale at the time of purchase, both fully syn, the Shell has a higher MB rating but they feel much the same in every way and alright for general purpose applications in a lot of cars I service, nothing special but does the job.

身在老美中部的我,兩部日本車本 manual 都係叫用 0w-20。我就好簡單咁去 walmart 買mobile1 0-20 自己換,唔貴又易買。
